Picture Ring with Kyanite
A picture ring with a large natural kyanite and a lava-like silver surface. The texture is created with fire and subsequent hand-drawn detailing.
Description
The upper part of this ring is conceived as a strongly textured metal surface. The silver is worked with fire and then detailed with lines and concentric circles.
After heating and drawing, the surface resembles lava: irregular, alive and slightly unpredictable. This texture defines the ring’s character.
A large natural kyanite with a semi-matte finish completes the form and creates the sense of a picture in which the stone becomes part of the scene rather than a separate insert.
The original has been sold, but it can serve as a prototype for a new custom commission.
Creating a related piece
A related piece can be created based on this ring, preserving its large stone, textured surface and the feeling of a small wearable picture.
The stone, size and proportions can be changed; new elements may be added, and the shank can be redesigned, for example as an open form.
