Silver Stone
A sterling silver prototype ring shaped as a hollow dimensional box. Its surface texture was created by pressing natural granite into heated silver.
Description
“Silver Stone” is a sterling silver prototype ring. The upper section is built as a small hollow dimensional box, so the ring appears substantial without being fully solid.
The main surface was formed using an unusual process: the silver was heated almost to its melting point, then natural granite was pressed into it.
As a result, the metal received not a decorative pattern, but a true imprint of the stone surface. This texture is slightly different every time and cannot be precisely repeated.
A polished pyramidal element is set on top. It contrasts with the rough stone-imprinted surface and gives the form a more focused architectural accent.
This piece weighs 16.4 g. A new version can change the height and proportions of the box, the band shape, and the upper decorative element.
Reimagining the Piece
A similar piece can retain the overall idea: a dimensional silver box, a stone-imprinted surface texture, and a separate upper decorative accent.
A custom version can change the proportions, box height, band shape, and surface character.
The upper pyramidal element can be replaced by another metal detail or a stone setting.
