Container Ring
A sterling silver ring with an opening top that can hold a tiny object, flower bud, travel fragment or personal keepsake.
Description
“Container Ring” is a sterling silver prototype conceived as a small personal vessel worn on the hand.
The top can be removed. Inside, one may place something small: a flower bud for the mood of the day, moss, a fragment of wood, a shell or a tiny object brought back from a journey.
The opening system uses a screw mechanism. The top is threaded; approximately one turn opens the ring.
The shank is open. This version measures 17 mm, and its construction allows slight adjustment.
This is not a typical NP Studio piece: it has more ornament, decorative rhythm and object-like presence than the more rigid geometric or biomechanical rings.
It is more than jewelry with a top element: it is a functional object, a personal container that can hold meaning, memory or a temporary detail.
Recreating the Piece
A similar piece can preserve the container-ring idea: a removable top, inner vessel and open shank.
For a custom commission, the form, proportions, construction and ornament can be changed.
Stones, additional lines or other elements can also be added provided they do not interfere with the opening mechanism.
