Picture 4
An archival silver ring with amazonite and four concave surfaces. The softly sparkling matte texture and open composition create the feeling of a small picture worn on the hand.
Description
“Picture 4” is an archival NP Studio piece in sterling silver with amazonite.
The upper section consists of four concave silver surfaces. They form an open composition in which the metal acts as an independent plane rather than merely a stone setting.
The silver has a softly sparkling matte texture. Light spreads gently across the form and emphasizes the depth of each concave section.
Amazonite provides a color accent within the restrained silver composition. The stone does not dominate; it works with the rhythm of the four surfaces.
This is an archival prototype. A similar ring can preserve the principles of the open composition, concave planes, and stone setting.
Reimagining the Piece
A new piece can be created from “Picture 4,” retaining the principle of several concave silver surfaces, an open composition, and a stone setting.
A custom version can replace the amazonite and change the size, number or proportions of the surfaces, and the intensity of the texture.
An exact copy of the archival ring is not intended. The new piece will be an independent composition in the same direction.
