Sculpture with Azur-Malachite
A large sculptural silver ring with azur-malachite, a green pearl and spring-like elements that appear to grip the stone and direct a flow of metal across it.
Description
“Sculpture with Azur-Malachite” is a sold sterling silver ring featuring a large blue azur-malachite with green inclusions and an additional green pearl.
This is a very large and unusual ring. Its upper section reads not as a conventional setting but as an independent sculptural composition.
The shank has an unconventional construction resembling a truncated cylinder with a flat upper surface. Despite its volume, it remains comfortable to wear.
The large azur-malachite resembles a small blue boulder with green inclusions. Spring-like elements grip it and create tension around the stone.
Visually, the silver seems to flow across the azur-malachite while holding it in motion.
The piece is inherently sculptural and cannot be reproduced exactly. It offers a direction for conversation and future work rather than a model for copying.
Recreating the Piece
An exact repeat is impossible. The ring is self-contained, large and sculptural, so it cannot be mechanically copied.
A new piece can follow a similar direction: a large stone, unconventional shank, spring-like elements and silver that appears to flow over or grip the surface.
For a custom commission, the stone, scale, shank and element placement can change. The result will be different while preserving the sculpture’s overall character.
