Description
“Amethyst with a Screw” is a sculptural composition in sterling silver featuring a natural tumbled amethyst.
The ring is more joke and art object than conventional jewellery. Its idea rests on the strange collision of precious metal, a stone and the everyday image of a screw.
The silver screw appears to pass through the amethyst, stitching it between two silver plates.
The screw is also sterling silver. Its form closely follows a real screw but is translated into jewellery material.
The shank is rectangular. The upper section becomes a small sculpture in which the stone is not merely set, but part of a strange mechanical scene.
The piece primarily opens a direction for conversation. It can inspire new objects combining the same mixture of irony, stone, metal and sculptural construction.
Recreating the Piece
An exact repeat is not the goal. The piece is an example of a direction for a new sculptural composition.
